Mittens was born a black tabaxi cub to a traveling performing troupe from Port Nyanzaru. When he was four, he fell off the back of the cart in Waterdeep as they were loading onto the ships to head back to Chult, his mother on one ship and his father the other so they both thought the other had him. They were already back in Port Nyanzaru before they realized that he was lost, they were never reunited. Fortunately for Mittens he was found by the sweetest girl from Amphail that happened to be in Waterdeep that day while her father was seeking counsel of Father Sunbright. She found a terrified, wet and muddy ball of fur hiding outside the Spires of Morning. The girl put together a plan and figured out how to smuggle Mittens home to her families manor without her father noticing somehow. She hid him all thru her house and horse barn managing to somehow keep him hidden for three years before her parents found out, he had been family for too long and she wouldn't consider letting her parents separate them and didn’t really give them an option. Eventually she went off to paladin school leaving MIttens behind to chase her destiny. Home wasn't home without her, so he set out to learn the arcane arts. When he heard that she managed to get herself into danger he set out on the foolish quest of saving her, as if she were a damsel in distress (yes that's the joke). He felt compelled to go to Daggerford...which is where the campaign began.
