Copyright & DMCA
MyRealm is built on original characters and the art that brings them to life, so we take copyright seriously, both yours and other people’s. Members agree to post only work they created or have the right to use. If you believe content on MyRealm infringes your copyright, this page explains how to tell us and what happens next.
Reporting infringement (takedown notice)
If you are the copyright owner, or authorized to act for them, send a written notice to our designated agent at admin@visitmyrealm.com with the subject line “DMCA Takedown.” To be actionable, your notice must include:
- Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed.
- Identification of the material on MyRealm you say is infringing, with enough detail for us to find it. The exact page URL(s) is best.
- Your name, address, and a contact email.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
Please note that under Section 512(f) of the DMCA, knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing can expose you to liability.
What we do with a valid notice
When we receive a notice that meets the requirements above, we will promptly remove or disable access to the material, and make a reasonable effort to notify the member who posted it, passing along your notice so they can respond.
Counter-notice
If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to admin@visitmyrealm.com. It must include: identification of the removed material and where it appeared; your name, address, and email; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification; and your consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate court, plus your signature. If we receive a valid counter-notice, we may restore the material after a waiting period unless the original complainant notifies us that they have filed a court action.
Repeat infringers
We will, in appropriate circumstances, disable or terminate the accounts of members who repeatedly infringe others’ copyrights.
A note for members
If you commission or use art for a character, make sure you have the right to post it, and credit your artists. MyRealm has built-in fields for artist names and links. Posting work that isn’t yours to post can get the content, and repeatedly the account, removed.
